Carlos
Carlos was born in 1938 in Monterrey, Mexico, and grew up in a family that valued education. His dad was an architect and his mom was a teacher. He moved to Texas at 19 for college and spent over 40 years as a mechanical engineer for a major oil company. He was married for 52 years before his wife passed away and he now feels at home at Belmont receiving the care and help he needs. He spends time playing chess and listening to old boleros. Every December he looks forward to cooking tamales with his niece and spending time with his family. His Catholic faith is extremely important to him, and he makes sure to attend online mass every week. For Carlos, being human means learning to change without losing who you are; he’s proud to be bilingual, bicultural, and open-minded and believes that hard work matters most when it helps others around the world.
